“I just needed someone to see me”
When we first met him, he was sitting alone outside a convenience store, exhausted, hungry, and feeling invisible. He told us he hadn’t had a real conversation in weeks — people walked past him like he didn’t exist.
A peer supporter sat with him, listened to his story, and reminded him that he mattered. Over the next few weeks, we helped him reconnect with resources, get a warm meal, and rebuild a sense of hope.
What changed everything wasn’t the resources — it was the connection. He said, “You didn’t treat me like a problem. You treated me like a person.”
Today, he checks in regularly, uses grounding tools we taught him, and is taking steps toward stable housing. His journey isn’t finished, but he’s no longer walking it alone. Mental health, homelessness assistance, trauma. recovery, and life transitions guidance all in one compassionate place.

Our core values and beliefs
At Centipede Peer To Peer, our foundation is built on unwavering principles that guide every interaction. First, we believe every person has worth, no matter their situation. No one is "too far gone" or "beyond help"; everyone deserves dignity, respect, and a chance to rebuild. Second, lived experience is a gift, not a shame. Our team comprises individuals who have walked similar paths, offering understanding that textbooks simply cannot. Healing starts with connection, not judgment or labels. We prioritize real relationships over clinical distance, fostering an environment where people feel seen and heard. Lastly, we meet people where they are, literally and emotionally, providing support on the streets, in shelters, or wherever it is needed most. Everyone moves at their own pace, and we honor that journey without pressure.
How we hope to make a real difference
Centipede Peer To Peer was created with one purpose: to change lives through connection, compassion, and consistent support. Our hope is to make a real, lasting impact in two places — in the lives of the people we help and in the community as a whole. We help people feel seen, heard, and valued, knowing that many we meet feel invisible or forgotten. We guide individuals toward stability and hope, whether they are struggling with addiction, mental-health challenges, homelessness, or trauma, by supporting them in taking the next step, no matter how small. We actively break cycles of isolation, fostering connection, community, and a sense of belonging. Ultimately, we support recovery and life rebuilding, helping people find resources, build coping skills, and reclaim their lives.
"Levi Spears Sr. exemplifies true leadership and compassion. His dedication to Centipede Peer To Peer is transforming lives and building a stronger community."

What inspired me to start Centipede Peer To Peer
Centipede Peer To Peer grew out of my own life experiences — the struggles I’ve faced, the people who lifted me up when I had nothing, and the times I had to rebuild myself from scratch. I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, stuck, to fight addiction, mental health challenges, or homelessness, and to believe the world has written you off. I also know the power of just one person showing up, listening, and believing in you — how that kind of support can change everything. I started Centipede Peer To Peer to offer kind of help I wish more people could find: real support from people who truly understand, not because they studied it, but because they’ve lived it. My journey taught me that people don’t need perfection — they need presence. They need someone who won’t judge, rush, or talk down to them. Someone who sees their potential even when they can’t. That belief is at he heart of everything we do here

Managed by, and services are delivered by peers who have their own “lived experience” with mental health and/or substance use recovery. We draw on this lived experience as we support and guide others in their personal recovery journeys.
When all you can see is the crisis in front of you, remember there's an entire world of support right behind you.

we support individuals, strengthen communities, and improve outcomes across California By partnering with hospitals, health departments, courts, healthcare providers, managed care organizations, and community agencies, Centipede Peer To Peer helps bridge gaps in care and connect individuals to meaningful, long-term support.
Our partnerships are designed to create continuity of care, reduce barriers to recovery, and ensure individuals receive person-centered support wherever they are in their journey.
